Still Time for Cereal Rye

The autumn season is drawing to a close but there’s still time to sow cereal rye seed. Otherwise known as forage or grazing rye, it can be sown throughout October to create a winter hardy cover which can be grazed in early spring or terminated and incorporated. A useful cover crop, with a late sowing date, it can be direct-drilled after the maize harvest.  Seed, including organic, is still available in 500kg bulk bags or smaller 25kgs bags.
