This purple perennial is short in height reaching only up to 20 cm and is a creeping species. It is very common throughout England and has a preference for neutral grassland, commonly found in lawns, meadows, woodland and verges. As is suggested by the name, Self Heal has a long history of being used in herbal medicine, from treating heart disease, wounds, sore throats and stopping bleeding.
