Cotswold Seeds’ Sainfoin and FarmED’s expert beekeeper Chris Wells of Cotswold Bees both featured on BBC Countryfile on Saturday. Adam Henson talked to Chris about the sainfoin at Cotswold Farm Park and its benefits as a resource for pollinators, but sainfoin, otherwise known as ‘healthy hay’ is not just good for bees. It is a highly nutritious, protein-rich forage crop for cattle, sheep & horses which has anti-bloat and anti-worming properties. It also reduces methane emissions by ruminants and its deep tap roots make it drought tolerant, so it’s good for the environment and dry weather conditions too.
