Right across the UK, autumn sowings of stubble turnips and forage rape are now being grazed, fulfilling their valuable role in providing sheep and cattle with valuable winter feed.
We estimate that around 100,000 acres are sown annually, either as straights or as a mixture.
With this winter being unusually mild so far, these crops have made good growth and are holding high numbers of sheep which, at less than £10 per acre for seed, provides exceptional value.
