Talks and Tours

Work was recently finished on the extension to our warehouse, including a new Customer Entrance, at our HQ in Moreton-in-Marsh. With more space, improved storage and mixing facilities, we can mix seeds even faster and it’s also easier for us to cater to different mixture and bagging requirements - we are happy to offer the option of supplying seed in our traditional green sacks, or in larger bulk bags for big orders, this will cut down on time spent filling the drill when the weather is right and time is of the essence to get seed in the ground.

Meanwhile having a dedicated Customer Entrance means that local farmers can drop in to collect whatever they need and seek face-to-face advice. We’ve already had several visits by students from agricultural colleges and would welcome others who’d like to have a look around and see how we operate.

As well as tours, we’ve also been out and about giving a series of talks on a variety of subjects, with more lined up for the coming months. We were invited to speak to TOADS, a group of forward thinking farmers in Oxfordshire about 40 Years of Cotswold Seeds and we spoke to the Towcester Sheep Discussion Group and at Cholderton Estate about how to get the most from grazing mixtures. We were also pleased to be invited to take part in the Soil Association’s annual Soil Symposium on Green Manures. Our MD Ian Wilkinson’s talk was entitled ‘Under Cover Crops and focused on how building diversity above ground boosts biodiversity below ground.

In the New Year we’ll be talking to a group of young farmers in Staffordshire and at an international seminar at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester on the subject of legumes.

If you’d like us to give a talk to your group or college, or tour our facilities, please contact Fiona Mountain on fionam@cotswoldseeds.com
