Winter Cover?
If you’re harvesting maize at the moment and looking for winter cover, as long as conditions allow you could consider sowing cereal rye & vetch, which is still available, or perhaps a short term ryegrass ley such as Westerwold or Italian ryegrass, which provides early grazing and/or silage/hay next season.
