Farming in Focus from @pemboaflowers 🌻
“A few weeks ago we ended our sunflowers to get the last of our cover crops in and we couldn’t help admire and appreciate the beautiful living mulch going on below. Amongst the sunflowers we’ve got nitrogen fixing white clover and the odd plantain (lanceolata). They’re all playing their part and providing extra pollen and nectar for beneficial insects late into the season.
We mulch them down and kill them off with a tarp for a few weeks before planting our cover crops from @cotswoldseeds -
All of this is helping not just nurturing soil health but helping raise our beds and making them way more resilient in the wet.”
