Tim Mallett, from Dean Farm, West Dean in West Sussex, attempted to grow a crop of sainfoin a couple of years ago, but was unsuccessful. He met with Cotswold Seeds Manager, Paul Totterdell, at FarmED to see the sainfoin crop there and gain advice about establishment and management. He tried again and this is the result. Sown a year ago and grazed by lambs late in the summer. Proof that perseverance really can pay off when it comes to growing sainfoin - as long as you have the right soil type.
