This made us think of the classic Russian story of, 'The Enormous Turnip' in which in a grandfather plants a turnip, which grows so large that he cannot pull it up himself. More people are recruited to help - grandmother, granddaughter, dog, cat, mouse, until they finally pull the turnip up together…anyway...this one is a Samson, a Dutch white stubble turnip and was pulled out of the ground at Leafield by Nigel and Ed Adams, who will feature as a case study in our next catalogue. It was planted as part of our Early Fold Root Mixture which includes fodder rape along with the stubble turnip. Sheep find it particularly delicious!
