LegumePlus will generate new knowledge for breeding Sainfoin & Birdsfoot Trefoil cultivars. Research has highlighted differences in traits exhibited by various cultivars. The project will identify useful cultivars using DNA markers and gene sequencing to locate beneficial traits. Sowing and co-planting methods will be studied to develop agronomic practices for plant establishment and N fixation.
